Welcome to St. Pius X School

Dear Parents and Friends,

Welcome! Thank you for your interest in St. Pius X School. We are a Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade Catholic school serving over six hundred students. Our students and their families come to us from twenty-five different school districts throughout the capital region, and in nearly all cases, those districts provide bus transportation for our children.Our school is located in a quiet, suburban setting just outside of Albany, New York, and is easily accessible from all directions.

St. Pius X's mission is to provide students with a safe, caring environment while offering excellent academic programs within the framework of Catholic Christian values. We work closely with our students and their parents as we nurture the spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional and physical development of our children.

For your convenience, below I have answered the most commonly asked questions about our school.

  • St. Pius X School follows the N.Y.S. curriculum in conjunction with the curriculum of the Albany Roman Catholic Diocese. Our students take all of the New York State tests and, as a school, we have substantially outperformed our public school counterparts statewide.

  • We are a Middle States Association Accredited School, recognized for our devotion to our mission, high academic standards, and commitment to addressing the concerns of our parents and the needs of our students.

  • Students partake in daily prayers, monthly school liturgies and student service projects throughout the year. Religion lessons and the Gospel messages are taught each day.

  • Our Kindergarten programs are full day, running from 8:00 a.m. until 3:05 p.m. Pre-Kindergarten is available to 3 and 4 year olds.

  • We have an after school care program available to all students from K-8th until 6:00 p.m. each day.

  • St. Pius X has three sections of each grade level K-6th and two sections each of grade levels 7th and 8th.

  • The average class size is 22 students.

  • Technology, Spanish, Art, Music, Library, and Physical Education classes are taught to all grades K-8th.

  • Our school facilities include two new thirty station computer labs with high speed internet access, as well as a spacious new library. There are two certified reading specialists and a speech therapist on staff. Individual and group computer assisted instruction is available to serve students in need of academic support.

  • Our students enjoy a fully equipped playground and nearly two acres of athletic fields for student recess and recreation.

  • Students can participate in CYO basketball, intramural sports, flag football, choir, drama club and scouting.

  • We have an excellent hot lunch program available to students each day.
