After school care is available for any student registered in St. Pius X School. The program runs from 3:05 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. when school is in session. On half days, the After School Program begins at the time of dismissal, 11:00 a.m., at no additional charge. Students should bring a lunch on half days if they will be staying after school.
The After School Program is staffed by qualified, caring people. The program consists of supervised playtime, snack time, and homework time (where applicable). Each afternoon students will go to a designated room where a faculty member will take attendance. Once attendance is taken, all students will be escorted to the gymnasium. The students will then have an opportunity, if they choose, to change from their school uniforms into more comfortable clothes that they bring from home.
A daily homework room will be provided, and at least two classrooms will be open each day for playing board games, reading, and for viewing educational and general audience rated movies. In addition, the gymnasium and the athletic fields and playground behind the school will be open for supervised free play and/or organized outside activities. Each day students will be provided with a snack and juice in the gym.
Please review appropriate behavior with your children such as taking care of one's belongings and respecting other children's possessions. To help insure that your child is provided with a safe, secure environment, it is necessary that all participants in the program adhere to the following rules:
- Students must be respectful and responsive to the program director and staff members at all times.
- All parents and those authorized to pick up students must enter and leave only through the front door of the school building located next to the gym. Cars may be parked in front of the school or in the faculty parking lot adjacent to the gym.
- When picking up a student, authorized persons must first contact the program director, produce a form of picture identification such as a driver's license, and then sign your child out. Identification cards for individuals picking up students will be required until such time as the program director recognizes individuals and no longer deems your I.D. card necessary. Please note that no child will be released from the program to a driver without picture identification.
- Single Day Cost: good for one day for one student in the After School Program.
- Monthly Cost: good for an entire month. This is for full time use of the After School Program.
